The NG2 NTDDS product, which delivers the GAD gene directly to nerve cells, has been shown in preclinical studies to be effective in the treatment of chronic neuropathic pain arising from nerve damage from causes such as diabetes or spinal cord injury. In these studies, robust and long-lasting pain relief was achieved following a single intradermal injection of the vector.
The market for diabetic neuropathic pain is substantial as all forms of diabetes, type 1, LADA, and type 2, typically lead to complications including progressive pain in the extremities that is not effectively treated with current medications.
